Oil is black, not green...

Jad Mouawad for the New York Times, wrote an article pertaining to the oil companies so called efforts to invest their money into alternative energy research. The Obama administration is keen on cutting carbon emissions and increasing the amount of renewable energy supplies, but the big oil companies seem to be still be less involved with alternative energy development.

The oil behemoth BP, has been claiming for nine long years that they are moving "beyond petroleum", and now cutting back their renewable energy projects. Most of the American oil companies are following in Great Britain's footsteps. "It seems as if the messages from Washington are going in on ear, and out the other," quotes Mouawad. The oil companies invest a lot of money and advertising into their campaigns, but still appear to make very little effort to a more greener route.

Most investments for alternative energy are coming from different wallets, rather than the oil companies. According to Micheal Eckhart, president of the American Council on Renewable Energy, that the last fifteen years oil companies have spent around 5 billion to develop programs for renewable energy. But that this represents only 10 percent of the 50 billion dropped into the clean energy act by venture capital funds and corporate investors. I believe that it is time for these greedy petrol pigs to smell what is cooking in Washington. We need to continue to set the pace for the new world age of clean and responsible energy habits.

If you need a reminder about what is going on in our country involving alternative energy, then listen to the "man" again.
